BHM0488  Wt. 51.31gr. Charles Fox laudatory medal. Hard to tell why this was issued as Fox was out of government office in 1800 and didn’t die until 1806. The two major bills that were up for vote in parliament in 1800 was the Land Tax Act and the Union with Ireland Act, neither of these were connected directly to Fox.  However, Charles James Fox was a larger than life Whig politician. In his early years he displayed a big appetite for women and gambling which got him into bankruptcy twice. King George III hated him, but in 1806 was forced to accept him as prime minister, lucky for George that Fox died after only a few months in office.  Some scattered hairlines and some black marks but still  choice for a white medal.
