WILLIAM IV, AR66, 1827
BHM1296 Extremely Rare. Celebrates the Duke of Clarence (later King William IV) as Lord High Admiral. A huge, heavy silver medal with a matte finish. In superb condition except that at some time this piece was dropped on a hard surface leaving a noticeable edge ding at 6 oclock. I’ve seen this medal in bronze and in gilt silver but this is the only example in silver with a darkened finish that I have ever seen. A five thousand dollar piece except for that rim knock. Ex Baldwins sale Jan 2017 lot 1302. NGC UNC
