City of London School, struck to commemorate opening of new buildings and medal #18 in the series of medals commissioned by the City of London Corporation, 400 struck.   Obv:  Cojoined busts of Edward and Alexandra, Prince and Princess of Wales. Rev Building façade.  In my opinion the height of medallic engraving was reached during the late Victorian period with these large format medals providing the proper canvas to display the engravers art. Unfortunately this also means that these large heavy medals easily pick up dings, spots and other detracting marks. This piece is a notable exception.  A superb example, lovely mahogany patina, no marks, nicely engraved. Heritage sold the highest graded example, an MS66, in 2024 for $720.oo. That coin was spotted and had multiple hairlines along with a thin scratch on the bust. This coin is far superior to that example.  Superb FDC
