AU57  German Commemorative medal in gold. Obv: Margrave of Baden, Ludwig William on horseback with inscription around. Rev: Schloss Rastatt where he died in 1707 with inscription. Issued on the tricentenary of his birth. Ludwig was instrumental in destroying the Turkish army at the siege of Vienna in 1683. In 1689 he was made Commander in Chief of Imperial forces in Hungary and in 1691 inflicted a defeat on the Turks at Slankaman freeing Serbia from Ottoman rule. In 1955 Germany also issued a 5MK silver coin to commemorate Louis William.  A few scattered hairlines but brilliant mirrored surfaces with a cameo relief.  Plain edge, 71 grams of gold or 2.055 troy ounces of pure gold content.
