Henry VIII, 1526-44, 1D

S2349/N1808 MM Rose, London Mint An amazing survivor. The small size of the silver penny made it difficult and expensive to produce. The small thin flan would easily crinkle and crack if struck too hard, so locating a decently struck piece is a rare find. Additionally, most examples of Tudor small coins are heavily worn, corroded from burial or both. This example is fully round and nicely struck. Bought from Michael Trennery Coins 26 Oct 1981  GVF
