Coal Exchange, 1849, AE89 SOLD
BHM2357 A massive medal (482.6 grams) commemorating the opening of the new coal exchange which was opened by prince Albert on October 30th 1849. It was the first major building in the world constructed from a cast iron frame. It was torn down in 1962 to provide for the widening of Lower Thames Street. A superb medal always found with dings and spots, this medal is an exception. FDC
