Victoria, 1860, Sovereign, EXT RARE Unbarred 1st A in GRATIA, EX BENTLEY COLLECTION

$2,690.00

S3852D Ball at end of 6, WW incuse on truncation with no stops. First A in GRATIA is an upside down V. Excessively rare error. The last decade saw a large number of notable sovereign collections catalogued and sold. This in turn resulted in a number of extremely rare mistrike and punching error varieties discovered and listed in the catalogs. All previous fervor and scrutiny over 1860 sovereign varieties has resulted in twelve (NGC) graded examples of the O/C in VICTORIA and another eight graded examples of the A/V in VICTORIA coin. However, this coin error has only been detected on one graded (an EF45) specimen.  Overall a nice example exhibiting some wear on the hair and accompanied by multiple light bagmarks. Reverse is better with some lustre. Ex Baldwins Sale #76 The Bentley Collection Part 2 Lot 428 EF
